Since its inception in 1991, Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee (SPCC) has been working in waste management sector in the three VDCs: Chaurikharka, Namche and Khumjung located within the Sagarmatha National Park and Buffer Zone area. Our working area begins from the main trekking route of Lukla and end at various Himalayan base camps including Everest Base Camp. Despite the difficult geographical location covering huge area, I am proud to say that over the years SPCC has made great achievements in waste management by mobilizing the local communities, disseminating public education, and adopting integrated waste management approach based on 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) principle.
Our achievements are in large due to the continuous cooperation and support from our committee members, management team, our partners and concerned stakeholders. I would like to take this opportunity to extend my sincere gratitude to all for their continuous support, and look forward to work together in adopting sustainable waste management practices that will help to make Khumbu a clean and well-managed region.
