As the spring climbing season is approaching our icefall doctors have reached Everest Base Camp today where they will spend another three months to fix and maintain the Khumbu icefall route for climbers attempting Mt. Prior to route construction, they will attend a weeklong training organized jointly by Khumbu Climbing Center (KCC) Khumbu Climbing Center and Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee (SPCC) from 7th March to 13th March 2016. The training is being organized for the first time at Everest Base Camp. Instructors from KCC Funuru Sherpa, Panuru Sherpa and Danuru Sherpa will provide training to ten icefall doctors on safety measures and rescue techniques. The Petzl Foundation provided instructors, training equipment and US $3,500/- through KCC and the Sherpa Foundation provided US $500/- to organize the training. Our team of eight icefall doctors will fix the icefall route for spring climbing season after the training.
