We have taken several initiatives at local level to reuse and recycling wastes. We have built two garbage bins reusing PET bottles as building materials. We have created beautiful bags reusing tents crushed by earthquake-triggered avalanche at Everest Base Camp on 25th April 2015. We distributed these reusable bags to local communities of Khumbu as a part of our “Say No to Plastics – Save Himalaya” campaign. SPCC has also initiated recycling aluminum cans to produce aluminum souvenirs in 2014. We are also looking for potential recycling projects, such as recycling of papers to produce briquette and recycling plastic wrappers at local level. SPCC also played significant role in banning glass bottles beers and plastic bags within the Khumbu Region. In align with our plastic bag campaign; SPCC has distributed hundreds of reusable bags to local communities. Further, SPCC also provided funds to Himalaya Youth Club to produce cloth bags in Lukla.
