Khumbu Icefall Route Construction Spring (2017) Update

Our team of eight icefall doctors completed the setting of Khumbu icefall route – the route between base camp and camp II - for this Spring Climbing season on 4th April 2017. Our icefall doctors will continue to maintain the route throughout the climbing period. We recommend climbers and support staff to strictly adhere to safety measures, such as clipping harnesses to safety ropes while on ladders; have only one climber on any ladder at any given time; and lighten loads carried by individual high altitude mountain workers so as not to overload the ladders.
