Request to participate in the "Carry Me Back" project

Please participate in our “Carry Me Back” project - a great way to reduce your carbon footprint while trekking in the foothills of Mt. Everest.
The main aim of the project is to transport semi-processed aluminum cans and PET bottles from Namche to Kathmandu for recycling with voluntary support from trekkers. We have set up the pickup station at the Stupa in Namche Bazaar where anyone interested in participating can pick up 0.5 - 1 kg bag on his or her way back to Kathmandu and drop the bags at our drop off station at Lukla airport. In the end of the trekking season, Tara Air will airlift all garbage from Lukla to Kathmandu and hand it over to Blue Waste to Value for recycling.

The ‘Carry Me Back” project was launched this October and over hundred trekkers have already participated in the project. Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee (SPCC) and Sagarmatha Next initiated the project in partnership with Sagarmatha National Park, Sagarmatha National Park Buffer Zone Management Committee, खुम्बु पासाङल्हामु गाऊँ पालिका Khumbu Pasanglhamu Rural Municipality, TARA AIR and Blue waste to value.
Please support the project by participating and spreading the message.
